Polybutyl Rubber and Silicone SealantsOur Z9000 series are Polybutyl Rubber and Silicone Sealants which conform to a variety of performance standards and industry based approvals. Our Polybutyl Rubber Sealant is used for joint sealing in applications such as industrial roofing, secondary glazing seals, automotive, curtain wall joints and general construction to name but a few.

Our Polybutyl Rubber is formulated from a blend of butyl rubber and Polyisobutylene to form an economical, flexible sealant extruded onto a siliconised finger-lift release paper to protect the properties and for ease of clean application.

Typical Industry Applications include:

• Industrial Roofing & Cladding
• Glazing
• Lap & Cover Joint Sealing
• Sealing water retaining structures
• Bedding of trims, mouldings, windows & door frames in caravans and mobile homes
• Prefabricated Buildings
• Joining vapour barrier membranes
• Pond Liners
• Sealing of duct flanges
• Joining together of Polycarbonate sheets
• Curtain Wall Joints
• Bathroom Sealing Strips
• High performance bonding of plastic profiles and membranes

Surface can be varied with laminations such as: Aluminum or Lead Foils for reflecting heat and Flashing, or special films for improving quality and to ensure that the product stays and puncture free

Certifications:

Where appropriate, our Z9000 series products have been tested against the requirements of the following bodies:

• The Water Research Council
• The National Federation of Roofing Contractors – Performance standards for Butyl Strip Sealants in Metal Clad Buildings – Class A Higher Performance and Class B Minimum Performance
• National Caravan Council

Specific properties have also been assessed in accordance with British and other national standards such as the ASTM, DIN and Norme Francaise. Further information is freely available upon request from our Technical Department.

Tolerances:

For rectangular sections the thickness tolerances are +/-10%. For up to 15mm wide it is +/-1mm. For between 15mm and 25mm it is +/-1.5mm and for widths over 25mm it is +/-2mm.
For round bead sections it is +/- 12%. Please contact us for more details.

Fabrication Tip:

Primers are not normally required for good adhesion to steel, GRP, plastic, painted timber and most other non-porous building materials. Do not apply to damp or contaminated surfaces and do not apply to joints where movement will exceed 10%.

For good adhesion, the joint interface must be clean and dry and free from frost, grease and loose materials. Apply directly from the reel onto one surface whilst pressing sufficiently to achieve good initial adhesion. Remove the release paper and offer other surface to the strip and push firmly to seal across the joint.

Shelf Life:

12 months when stored in cool, dry conditions.

Formats:

Standard Widths From: 6mm to 200mm

Standard Thickness: 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm, 7.0mm

Standard Length: Various depending on thickness ordered
