Z7000 - ZOUCH EHB Foam Tapes (Extremely High Bond)

CHARACTERISTICS:

Zouch EHB foam tapes are 100% closed cell foamed acrylic tapes. These high performing technical foam tapes are visco-elastic in nature. This gives the foam energy absorbing properties which provides these foam tapes with a variety of unique characteristics. In many situations, they can replace rivets, liquid adhesives and other permanent fasteners.

The product is naturally tacky and is capable of forming structural bonds with many non-porous materials. These bonding foam tapes utilize a variety of specific foam, adhesive, colour and release liner types to provide a solution to a broad range of applications.

All Zouch EHB foam tapes have excellent durability and excellent moisture and solvent resistance.

APPLICATIONS:

This kind of foam tape product has potentially limitless applications and can in principle be used anywhere where there is a mechanical fastener present. These represent some examples.

  • Sign Manufacture
  • Door Panel Manufacture
  • Bonding of Laminated Glass & Clear Plastics
  • Mirror Mounting
  • Georgian Bar Bonding
  • Automotive Aftercare Market
  • Commercial Vehicle Body Manufacture
  • General Metal Fabrication

FORMAT:

All foam tape products are available on a 76.2mm (3 inch) plastic core. Standard roll sizes and custom rolls available upon request. Contact Zouch Converters for available release liner options.

FEATURES & BENEFITS:

  • Excellent Load Bearing Capability
  • Excellent High Performance
  • Stops metal fatigue and mechanical degradation caused by fixings such as screws, nuts and bolts.
  • Has vibration dampening and shock absorption properties. Acts as a complete water, dust and air seal. Thermal expansion and contraction is taken up by the visco-elastic nature of the tape, which is highly conformable.
  • Labour saving, reduces re-finishing work, touch up and clean-up time required with other forms of bonding/fixing.
  • When replacing spot welding, there is no distortion of the sheet metal or grinding of welding beads.
  • Excellent temperature resistance and humidity performance.

CONVERTED DIE CUT PARTS

In addition to standard slit roll sizes, Zouch EHB foam tapes are also available in limitless shapes and sizes individually punched or kiss-cut on a continuous roll. For additional information on foam tapes, please contact our sales team.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are completely clean and free from any contamination such as dust, grease, oil and silicone lubricants. The surfaces to be bonded should be dry and free from any loose particles. The use of Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is recommended as the best cleaning medium. This should be applied with a clean cloth or tissue.

To attain the optimum bond sufficient pressure should be applied to the surface area to be bonded. To ensure good adhesive ‘wet out’ typical pressure should be 15 PSI + 100 Kpa.

The adhesive is pressure sensitive and best results are achieved with maximum surface contact under pressure. Please remember that 50% of bond strength is attained after 20 minutes. 90% of the optimum bond strength will be achieved after 24 hours. 100% is achieved after 72 hours. This flow is faster at higher temperatures and slower at lower temperatures.

Avoid significant load bearing to the bond directly after application.

Recommended application temperature is +20°C to +36°C, with the minimum application temperature not being below +10°C.

Certain surfaces will require priming or sealing such as porous surfaces – plaster and concrete, also absorbent surfaces such as untreated wood and fabrics.

Metals with Oxidised surfaces such as aluminium, copper and brass may need priming or abrading. Low energy surfaces such as Polypropylene plastics containing aggressive plasticisers may also need treatment.

LIMITATIONS:

Do not use in applications where the tape will be constantly submerged in liquids.

STORAGE:

Store rolls horizontally, in original carton between +5°C and +25°C in dry conditions and away from direct sunlight.

SHELF LIFE:

All Zouch EHB foam tapes have a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture if above storage procedure is followed.
