Z2000. EPDM Sponge

Z2000 series - EPDM Sponge Rubber Components & Electrical Engineering

Electrical, Engineering & EPDM Sponge Rubber Components - Z2000 SERIESThe Z2000 sponge rubber components series are closed-cell EPDM (Ethylene, Propylene, Diene, Monomer) sponges used generally for gasketing, sealing applications and electrical engineering. These are high performance sponge rubber materials for demanding environmental conditions. Their inherent low temperature and exceptional UV and ozone resistance make them candidates for exterior applications in construction and automotive markets.

Available as block format (buns) or extruded format (rolls), our EPDM sponge rubber components range is manufactured in accordance with ASTM D1056 standards and comes in a density range of RE41 (soft) to RE43 (firm). Being a closed-cell material, it will not allow easy penetration of liquids into the material.

Typical Industry Applications and Characteristics for EPDM Sponge Rubber Components include:

· Computer mouse-mats
· Lighting and Signage seals
· Insulation
· Closure seals
· Footwear
· Gaskets
· Automotive seals
· Weather Stripping
· Vibration and Noise dampening
· Packaging
· Electronic equipment
· Non-slip applications such as pads under glassware
· Ozone resistant
· Very good ageing properties

Benefits & Features

Characteristics common to all Zouch Converters closed-cell EPDM sponge products include a wide range of split thicknesses with the ability to combine adhesives or fabrics to the surface. They offer good dimensional stability, cushioning properties and vibration dampening properties.

Adhesives

All EPDM sponges can be laminated or coated with a Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA). Depending on application, we offer either a general purpose rubber adhesive (permanent or peelable), or a very aggressive acrylic that provides an excellent combination of tack and holding power and bonds quickly and efficiently to most surfaces that are kept clean, dry and free from contamination. Contact the sales department for more advice.

Fabrication Tip

Please remember that shrinkage is always a consideration with all cellular materials. It is therefore recommended that any grade of EPDM chosen be tested in its application or undergo prototype testing.
