Z1000 series - Foam Adhesive Tapes & PVC Foam Tapes

The Z1000 adhesive or non adhesive foam tapes series are closed cell vinyl foams manufactured from Plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Available in supported or unsupported formats, our vinyl foam tapes come in a density range of 96 Kgs/m3 (6lb) to 1440 Kgs/m3 (90lb).

These PVC vinyl foam adhesive or non adhesive tapes are available in a variety of surface textures including leather grain, matte, and a glossy "wet" look foam tape. Available with or without a Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA).

If required, two different vinyl foam tapes can be cast together (in tandem) for a layered material with unique characteristics.

Benefits & Features

Characteristics common to all Zouch Converters closed-cell vinyl foam tape products include the ability to make a long life seal against air, moisture, and light and dust penetration. They cushion and absorb vibration and shock. They also insulate in thermal, electrical and sound applications.

Colours

Standard foam tapes in Black, Grey and White. Custom colours available and can be matched upon request subject to minimum order quantity.

Manufacturing Process:

Chemically expanded to give cellular structure.

Compression Resistance:

Can be customized as measured by the Shore Resilometer.

Special Features:

• Material up to 3mm thick can be perforated
• Two layers of different sponge (firmness and colour) can be cast together for a tandem layered material.
• A solid vinyl film "wear" layer (skin) can be cast in combination with single or tandem layered foam. This wear layer can have the surface textures described above.
• Fabrics such as terry cloth or knits can be cast with the foam.
• Vinyl foams can be produced with a wide variety of properties such as firmness, slow recovery and static dissipative properties.
• Special Flame Retardant grades available upon request.

Certifications:

Flammability to methods UL94 HBF and FMVSS302 achieved. Certified to General Motors and Chrysler.

Surface Texture:

Surface can be varied from matte to leather grains and from ultra soft to a glossy "wet" look.

Tolerances on thickness (gauge)

• Over 3mm thick: +/- 10%
• Under 1.5mm thick: +/- 20%
• Between 1.5mm thick and 3mm thick: +/- 15%

Adhesives:

Almost all Vinyl foams are coated with Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesives. They offer performance advantages over other types of compositions. Acrylic adhesives exhibit excellent chemical resistance, ultraviolet and exterior durability, and a broad range of service temperatures.

A range of four different types of adhesive can be applied to the foam tapes if needed. Please specify your desired type before we quote.

• Water-Based Acrylic
  (Low Tack (HT1), Medium Tack (HT2) or High Tack (HT3)
• Solvent Based Acrylic Transfer (ST3)

HT1

A low tack, general purpose water-based acrylic that provides adhesion to most surfaces allowing the foam tapes to be repositioned.

ADHESIVE THICKNESS: 1.0 mils

ADHESIVE TO STEEL: 0.75lbs/inch min.

TEMPERATURE RANGE: -30º F to 180º F.

HT2

A medium bond, general purpose water-based acrylic that provides adhesion to most surfaces allowing the foam to be repositioned.

ADHESION TYPE: Water-based acrylic

ADHESIVE THICKNESS: 1.8 mils

ADHESIVE TO STEEL: 1.35lbs/inch min.

TEMPERATURE RANGE: -30º F to 180º F.

HT3

A high tack, general purpose water-based acrylic adhesive used as a permanent bond to most surfaces.

ADHESION TYPE: Water-based acrylic

ADHESIVE THICKNESS: 2.6 mils

ADHESIVE TO STEEL: 2.0lbs/inch min.

TEMPERATURE RANGE: -30ºF to 180º F.

ST3

A high tack, general purpose acrylic adhesive with excellent shear properties and can be used as a permanent bond to most surfaces. This adhesive exhibits good chemical migration and aging properties on vinyl. Also water and moisture resistance.

ADHESIVE THICKNESS: 2.0 mils

ADHESIVE TO STEEL: 10.0lbs/inch min.

TEMPERATURE RANGE: -30ºF to 180º F.
